Moto2 World Championship teams 2027: Lots of movement in the rider market – the current situation

In the Moto2 World Championship, a number of uncertainties regarding next season have recently been resolved. Although the news has been out in the open for some time, Senna Agius’s (Intact GP) move to Red Bull KTM Tech3 for 2027 has not yet been officially confirmed. The fact is: with established Moto2 stars such as Daniel Holgado, David Alonso, Izan Guevara and, indeed, Agius moving up to MotoGP, the teams in the middle category will be reshuffled next year.

As reported, Moto3 World Championship leader Maximo Quiles and VR46 protégé Celestino Vietti will take the places of Holgado and Alonso at Jorge Martinez’s Aspar team next season. Meanwhile, it is said that a successor for Alex Escrig has now been found at Forward Racing. It is considered a certainty that Pedro Acosta’s mate will move to the Italtrans team in 2027, where he will ride a Kalex. In place of Escrig, the Spaniard Marcos Ramirez is expected to return to the Moto2 class. The 28-year-old rode for American Racing until 2025, before losing his place there to the Czech rider Filip Salac. He is now competing for Forward in the Misano and Spielberg rounds on a wildcard. He had already lined up on the grid at Aragon – finishing the race there in 20th place.

Can Aron Canet stay with Marc VDS?

Should things not work out at Marc VDS, veteran rider Aron Canet will also have to look for a new team. Although the Spaniard has a contract until 2028, following the death of patron Marc van der Straten, it is no longer certain whether Marc VDS will still be competing in the Moto2 class in 2027.

Ivan Ortola and Angel Piqueras are staying with the MSi team. Ortola, a two-time Moto2 race winner, initially appeared to be a candidate for the seat at Intact GP.

As reported by SPEEDWEEK.com, KTM-Ajo Moto3 rider Alvaro Carpe is aiming to move up to the Moto2 class as early as 2027. The Spaniard could become Izan Guevara’s successor at Pramac.
