Bimota: Who the luxury brand from Rimini will be racing with in the 2027 Superbike World Championship

On 5 June, SPEEDWEEK.com reported which two riders will make up the Bimota factory team in 2027, and on 13 June, the contract extension with Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani was officially announced.

Alongside BMW ace Miguel Oliveira, Alex Lowes and Bassani are the only riders this season to have made it onto the podium without riding a Ducati. Ahead of this weekend's races in Misano, they occupy 4th and 7th place in the World Championship.

Alex Lowes is one of the key figures in the Bimota project in the Superbike World Championship. The Englishman has been riding for the Provec team since 2020, when it was still the Kawasaki works team, and has been responsible for the Bimota KB998s since 2025. Lowes played a central role in the transition from the Kawasaki ZX-10RR to the new motorbike with his experience and is regarded as the team leader within the project.

"The fact that I will be staying with the team for the next two years means a lot to me," said Lowes about his new contract. "There is a real family feeling within the team and the crew, which makes it even more motivating to be part of this project. I am fully committed to driving the development of the bike on the track and supporting the growth of the Bimota brand in both racing and road motorbikes. I am motivated by the positive impetus from the Bimota factory and Kawasaki in Japan. It is an impressive, global company. I firmly believe in this project."

Team-mate Axel Bassani added: "We have made great progress, especially in the past year. The changes we have made within the team have also contributed significantly to keeping our project on track. I believe it was the best decision to continue our work for another year - we still have a lot of room to grow."
