Superbike World Championship Misano, Grid Race 2: Miguel Oliveira outdid himself

In the first SBK race on Saturday and the sprint race on Sunday, the riders will start according to the results of the Superpole. For the second main race on Sunday, starting at the Misano World Circuit at 2.00 pm, there will be a different starting grid. The first nine of the sprint race will form the first three rows of the grid. The remaining riders, who will start the second race from 10th on the grid, will be lined up according to their Superpole results.

If, for example, the winner of the Superpole crashes in the sprint race, he will drop back to 10th place on the grid for the second race in the worst case. The biggest beneficiary on the Adriatic is BMW ace Miguel Oliveira, who will move up five places on the grid to grid position 6. This is astonishing because the convalescing Portuguese rider is still struggling badly with his damaged shoulder on his comeback.

The biggest loser is Bimota works rider Alex Lowes, who dropped out of the Superpole race in fourth place with technical problems and thus fell back from third to tenth on the grid for the second main race.

Things went very badly for Kawasaki's lone rider Garrett Gerloff in Misano: The Texan crashed in Superpole on his first lap, failed to set a time and only qualified for last place on the grid. As he did not make it into the top 9 in the sprint, he will also have to start from the back of the grid in the second main race.
